Project Overview
Developing and implementing the Cross-Domain Interoperability Framework for EOSC
The distinct approach of the CDIF4EOSC project is to build on the Cross-Domain Interoperability Framework (CDIF). The project will extend the CDIF recommendations, adding profiles and guidelines, and use case based examples, to form a comprehensive and actionable playbook for FAIR Integration in EOSC and beyond.
Three Key Advances
Beyond the Original FAIR Principles
Taking FAIR integration beyond the initial FAIR principles, by incorporating a number of key concepts, including those relating to data quality, the management of sensitive data, trust and data governance.
Metadata & Data Interoperability
At the metadata and data interoperability level by demonstrating how digital research outputs, particularly data, can be made FAIR-by-design (as FAIR digital objects) and integrated to benefit specific research objectives.
Systemic Integration
At the systemic level to demonstrate how to integrate FAIR enabling practices, tools and services within EOSC and among EOSC and the Common European Data Spaces.
The overarching objective of the project is to enable FAIR integration by developing the CDIF4EOSC Playbook and situating this at the heart of EOSC practices, fully integrated in the EOSC Federation.
Main Objectives
- Develop CDIF4EOSC as a FAIR-by-design approach to FAIR digital objects and FAIR integration.
- CDIF4EOSC Playbook: a comprehensive and actionable playbook for FAIR integration in EOSC and beyond.
- Data Quality Assessment: a comprehensive approach to data quality assessment and communication in metadata.
- FAIR-AI Tools and Services: in support of FAIR integration, for FAIRification at scale.
- EOSC Deployment: implement the CDIF4EOSC Playbook, tools and services with EOSC Nodes, Federation and Common European Data Spaces.
- Evaluating and demonstrating the benefits of CDIF4EOSC Playbook, tools and services to maximise impact.
